What is a per-minute counter?

A per-minute counter is a simple rate calculator: you tap once for every event you're tracking - a breath, a heartbeat, a rep, a person walking through a door - and the tool converts your raw count into a standardized per-minute rate. It works over a full 60-second window, or a shorter 15- or 30-second sample that gets scaled up, which is the same shortcut clinicians use to estimate pulse and respiratory rate quickly.

Because it runs entirely in the browser, it works anywhere: on a clipboard at a checkout line, at a client's bedside, on a factory floor, or on a stage next to a metronome. No dedicated sensor, wearable, or app install required.

Ways to use this tool

Breathing rate

Pulse and heart rate (manual count)

Fitness coaching and rep pacing

Facilities and operations

Manufacturing and assembly line pacing

Cadence and rep counting for sports

Music and rhythm

How to get an accurate reading

Pick a duration that matches how steady the thing you're counting is:

Tap consistently and only once per event. A couple of practice rounds before the one that "counts" will make your rhythm more consistent.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as counting pulse for 15 seconds and multiplying by 4?

Yes - selecting the 15-second option and tapping once per beat does exactly that, automatically.

Can I use this instead of a heart rate monitor?

It's a manual counting aid, not a medical device. It's useful for quick spot-checks or as a backup when a monitor isn't available, but it isn't a substitute for clinical equipment.

Does it work for tap-tempo / BPM detection?

Yes - pick "Tempo tap" and tap along to the beat. For casual use it gives a solid ballpark BPM.
